Top Comedies on Resflix

February 10, 2017

Over the past several weeks, I have been observing the new Baby Bruins (aka all the first years at UCLA): their food choices, highs and lows, drinking games and guilty pleasures! While I seem to know this campus really well, I will admit that I still do not fully comprehend “midterm season!” Everybody is crying during this time, or laughing at their crying states. So, if they love to laugh for no reason, I thought I might as well give them a legit reason to laugh at, so here are the latest and greatest Resflix comedies! How bow dah?

1. Easy A

No, I am not talking about your GEs but the 21st Century movie rendition of “The Scarlet Letter,” where a non-guilty Olive (Emma Stone), decides to spice up her boring, teenage life by telling stories about how she lost her virginity. As if one rumor wasn’t enough, she goes around spreading similar rumors about more spicy, uptight things she did with other boys, because they paid her to do so. Why would she though? Find out for yourself!

2. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

This list cannot go on without romantic comedies of course. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are here to make you laugh until you cry. For one, McConaughey has to prove that he is a keeper to our “How to…” girl, who has to write an article on  “How to Lose a guy in 10 days.” Don’t want burst your bubble but they are stuck together. Oops.

3. Friends With Benefits

Good ol’ story. LA-guy Dylan Harper (Justin Timberlake) goes to the hustle and bustle of NYC where he becomes friends with his headhunter, Jamie Rellis (Mila Kunis). Together they decide to get in a sexual relationship with no strings attached. No harm in that, right? So what went wrong then? Find out!

4. Bridget Jones’ Baby

Our favorite single, British girl is back! But she is not sad about not having a significant other. She is now an ambitious girl who wants to focus on her career but in the world of romantic comedies (yes, another one), it’s a siren for a trouble! The trouble is that she is pregnant and unsure if the father of the baby is Mark Darcy or Jack Qwant. Remember to grab a big bowl of popcorn before watching this one!

5. Mean Girls

Now that we are talking about hot messes, might as well roll in this classic about young Cady Heron, who is now stuck in the crazy, American high school culture with plastics, queen bees, jocks, nerds, slutty bunnies, punk artists, gays and what not! Phew! Just watch the movie to see how this could possibly end!
